Is it really true what they say?

I am a 25yr old female who raised single handedly by a really educated and highly paid professional woman. there were no male figures in my life during my formative years. i have only had 1 serious relationship and this was in college. is it true that history repeats itself? i am very comfortable being single and focused on my future goals. do you think that because i never saw how a male/female relationship, my life is now being affected. My sister is a single parent who has never been married.
